Government of the 4th Scottish Parliament

The Government of the 4th Scottish Parliament was formed after the 2011 elections to the Scottish Parliament. The Scottish Government was headed by former First Minister Alex Salmond for the first 3 years before being head by Nicola Sturgeon.
== Second Salmond government ==

Following the 2011 elections, the Scottish National Party remained in office, now as a majority government.
Having won a majority of seats in the general election (69 of 129) the SNP had enough seats to govern alone. Alex Salmond was re-elected First Minister unopposed on 18 May 2011.
